Marvel Meta Monday
Hello true believers and welcome to Marvel Meta Monday or M3. This is our first week looking into the metagame of Marvel Snap. The game has only been in closed beta for less than two weeks but we do have the start of a metagame. Without further ado, here are the top three decks in the meta currently:
Midrange Tempo
The idea behind this deck is to play as strong of a card on curve as possible. Mr. Fantastic buffs your units early and you look to close out the match with Iron Man and America Chavez. Kazar can help your early drops catch up from an early losing position. Overall a highly recommended deck if you are looking just to play the best card you can per turn.
Another high plus for the deck is that most of the cards you will pull early on so constructing this are a good decision for starting. We recommend it as a starting deck to earn some cubes.
Self Destruction Aggro
Now, this deck is an interesting one. You want to play low costs cards and then use Deathlok to destroy Nova to buff your entire board. Angel has strong synergy in the deck as when he’s in play and you destroy Nova or another card it will replace itself. Strong Guy shines in this deck as well because due to your card costs, he will usually have the +6 power. Scarlet Witch can help reroll unfavorable locations and Ant-Man/Wolfsbane will shine with your stacked units on a location. Overall a strong and very playable deck.
Efficient Swarm Synergy
This deck also has the theme of playing the best cost cards that it can for stats. It wants to swarm the board with Squirrel Girl and play Mantis to generate value. Captain America buffs the squirrels and sentinels, while Blue Marvel comes in late to buff your entire team. Do not underestimate how often Squirrel Girl can run away with a game because of her token generation. She and Sentinel are the powerhouse token generators that can look unassuming but are the keys to this deck’s victories.
So in closing most of the decks we covered today (⅔) were very efficient aggressive decks. This tends to be the case in most TCG’s early on as this theme is the easiest to build and tune. I expect the metagame to evolve substantially and we will see more midrange, combo, and control decks eventually. I look forward to covering those soon.
